๐ผ Golden Athlete. Quarterback Kyron Drones was named to the watch list for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award. The award recognizes the top senior or upperclassman quarterback who is on track to graduate with their class. Last season, Drones started in nine games, completing 136 of 224 passes for 1,562 yards.
๐ผ Duo Threat. Football players Tucker Holloway and Kemari Copeland were named to the watch list for the Comeback Player of the Year Award. The honor recognizes college football student-athletes for overcoming injuries, illness or other circumstances. Holloway suffered a significant injury and missed the entire 2024 season. Copeland played in four games in 2024 before missing the remainder of the season with an injury.

Position Preview. The defensive line is under coach J.C. Price. He has been the defensive line coach for nine seasons. Keyshawn Burgos returns to Virginia Tech for his fourth season. He tallied 33 tackles over four starts in 2024. Kelvin Gilliam Jr. is entering his second season as a Hokie. He tallied 35 tackles over six starts.
