🔼 Grit In Pitt. No better place to show off nerves of steel than the Steel City itself, right?
That’s exactly what the seventh-ranked Virginia Tech wrestling program displayed on Friday night, gutting out a tough 18-15 road victory over the 14th-ranked Pitt.
Led by veterans No. 4 Eddie Ventresca and No. 17 Tom Crook, Tech was powered by two bonus point wins of their five individual victories which proved to be the difference makers against a tough Panther squad.
🔼 Bearing Down. Speaking of nerves of steel, the Virginia Tech men’s hoops team put theirs on display at home on Saturday with a gutty 78-75 win over visiting California in ACC action.
A balanced, aggressive offensive attack teamed with a stifling defense effort helped the Hokies improve to 13-4 overall.
Six different players scored in double-figures for Virginia Tech led by Amani Hansberry, who finished with 15 points and nine rebounds. Joining him in double-digits in the scoring column was Jailen Bedford (13), Christian Gurdak (12), Neoklis Avdalas (11), Jaden Schutt (11) and Tobi Lawal (10).

🔼 The Big 5-0-0. On Sunday afternoon, the Virginia Tech women’s basketball team earned a historic win and did so in dominant fashion.
Carys Baker’s 17 points led the Hokies to a 78-56 victory over Boston College to improve Virginia Tech’s record on the year to 13-5 overall, including a 10-2 mark at home.
The win marked the 500th in program history at Cassell Coliseum.
Guards Mel Daley and Carleigh Wenzel rounded out the double figure scoring with 10 points apiece.

🔼 Making Waves. The final program to get into the winning ways this weekend was the Virginia Tech men’s swimming & diving squad.
Record setting perfromances by Carmen Weiler Sastre and Brendan Whitfield helped lead the Hokies to a 185-113 road win over South Carolina.
Both swimmers set pool records in the Carolina Natatorium with their performances. Weiler Sastre took home the 100 back (51.59) and 100 free (48.10) records, and Whitfield posted the 100 free record with a time of 42.06.
