Inside HokieSports 1/13: The Big 5-0-0
The most jaw-dropping and era-defining moments in Tech women’s basketball’s 50-year history
Good Morning, Tech Fam. All those years ago, Dorothy tried to tell us.
There’s truly no place like….
What else are we covering in today’s edition, Hokies?
🏀 The Big 5-0-0
🏈 Movin’ On
👏 Among The Elite
🦃 And much, much more!
🔼 The Big 5-0-0. It’s only fitting that during a season in which the Virginia Tech women’s basketball program is celebrating 50 seasons of history, that the Hokies would achieve some new history.
The Hokies did exactly that on Sunday, earning their 500th career victory at Cassell Coliseum.
With plenty of history happening, there’s no better time to look back on some of the incredible and unforgettable moments in Virginia Tech women’s basketball history.

🔼 Movin’ On. Only eight NFL teams remain alive in the hunt for the Lombari Trophy and once again, some former Hokies are right in the middle of the action.
Tremaine Edmunds and the Chicago Bears continued their magical season with a thrilling come-from-behind win over the Packers on Saturday. In the victory, Edmunds had six tackles and a pass deflection.
Tim Settle and his Houston Texans advanced to the second weekend of the playoffs with a dominant effort against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night. Settle was a key cog in the middle of the defensive line for one of the league’s best defenses, until early December when a foot injury ended his season prematurely.
🔼 Among The Elite. A critical mind on the Hokies sideline was honored recently as Virginia Tech men’s basketball associate head coach Chester Frazier was named to the seventh annual Silver Waves Media Most Impactful High Major Assistant Coaches list.
Frazier, who returned to Blacksburg in the summer of 2025 has helped the Hokies to a 13-4 start to the season (2-2 ACC). Known as a strong recruiter, Frazier was instrumental in the recruitment of two newcomers in Neoklis Avdalas and Amani Hansberry who he has mentored for three seasons.
