๐ผ Mustang Tamers. A dominant effort on both sides of the court led the Virginia Tech womenโs hoops squad to a third straight win on Thursday night with a 79-42 defeat of SMU in Dallas.
Kilah Freelon and Samyha Suffren each scored 18 points apiece to lead the way, with Freelon coming just one rebound short of a double-double with nine boards in the contest.
The Hokies defense was stifling, limiting the Mustangs to just 22.2-percent from the field and forcing 22 turnovers on the night. Virginia Tech also owned the glass, pulling down 50 rebounds, including 17 offensive boards.
๐ผ On The Hunt. Eight teams are left in the hunt for the coveted Lombardi Trophy and five former Virginia Tech football standouts right in the mix.
Keonta Jenkins (practice squad), Stephen Gosnell (practice squad) and Dorian Strong (injured list) will be on the sidelines as the Bills take on top-seeded Denver Saturday afternoon.
On Sunday, Tim Settleโs (injured list) Houston Texans will be on the road against New England while Tremaine Edmunds and the Chicago Bears look to advance to the NFC Championship game with a primetime matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.
