🏀 FULL HOUSE
No, we’re not talking about Danny Tanner and Uncle Jesse.
We’re talking about Cassell Coliseum as Hokie Nation continues to show up in a major way with two more sell out crowds on tap next month for critical ACC matchups in Blacksburg.
🔼 Orange Squeezed. Using a strong second half performance, the Virginia Tech men’s hoops squad gutted out a tough road win, defeating Syracuse, 76-74, in ACC action on Wednesday night.
Ben Hammond led the way for the Hokies, scoring 20+ points for the third time in his career, finishing with a game-high 24 points, including a 12-for-13 performance from the charity stripe, while also grabbing a career-high six steals.
Tobi Lawal grabbed a clutch rebound and put the nail in the coffin with free-throws in the final seconds to secure the win. He finished with yet another double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds for Virginia Tech.
With the victory, the Hokies improve to 15-5 overall and 4-3 in league play. Six of Virginia Tech’s seven league games have been decided by one score or gone to overtime.
🔼 50 & Forever. Long before Virginia Tech women's basketball saw sold-out crowds or gained national recognition, dedicated fans like Jeffrey and Sandy Birch were turning the program into family.
As inaugural season ticket holders, the former Virginia Tech staff members began consistently attending games in the 1990s, driven by their love for women's sports and the community.
🔼 Country’s Finest. We are just 15 days from the return of Virginia Tech lacrosse and this week one of their leaders was honored among the country’s best.
Senior attacker Lauren Render was named as a USA Lacrosse preseason All-American honorable mention selection.
Last season, she led the Tech squad in both goals (55) and total points (62). The attacker was named Second Team All-ACC and IWLCA Second Team All-Region in 2025.
The Hokies open their season on Friday, Feb. 6 at Mercer at 3 p.m.
