Hokies Post Three Wins As Winter Storm Rolls Through Region
Good Morning, Tech Fam. Winter weather may have taken over outside, but that didn’t slow down George Couttie from blistering the track at record pace!
What else are we covering in today’s edition, Hokies?
🏀 WINter Wonderland
🤼 Tree Chopping
🦃 And much, much more!
🔼 WINter Wonderland. The temperatures may have been bitterly cold outside, but it didn’t cool down the hot shooting of the Virginia Tech women’s hoops team.
The Hokies knocked down a season-best 13 3-pointers to pick up a dominant road victory over Wake Forest, 85-57, on Saturday night.
Virginia Tech, who has now won five of their six ACC games by at least 20 points, improve to 16-5 overall and 4-2 on the road.
Carys Baker led the way with 20 points and nine rebounds, while Carleigh Wenzel knocked down five three-pointers en route to 19 points.

🔼 Raising The Bar. Not a single collegiate athlete had ever broken the five minute mark in the 2000m entering this weekend.
That changed on Friday night when George Couttie set an all-time NCAA best in the event, clocking in at 4:57.81 to establish not only a Virginia Tech record, but an all-time collegiate best.
The performance came one week after Couttie represented Great Britain at the World Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee, Fla., where his squad finished seventh (23:11) in the mixed relay.
🔼 Tree Chopping. The seventh-ranked Virginia Tech wrestling squad chopped down visiting No. 24 Stanford in a 22-14 thriller Friday night in Cassell Coliseum.
Making a guest appearance were legends Mekhi Lewis and Bryce Andonian sitting alongside Caleb Henson on the Hokies’ bench. With the stars out tonight, the Hokies won six out of ten bouts – two via bonus point – in front of 3,273 loyal fans as Tech’s true freshman class continuing to shine.
