🔼 Friday Night Fights. It’s only right that two of the league’s toughest cities square off on a Friday night in Steel City.

Tonight, the seventh-ranked Hokie wrestling program will take the mat in Pittsburgh to face-off against 14th-ranked Pitt in a crucial ACC showdown.

Virginia Tech had four individuals win championships at two different events over the holiday break and now, they return to the mats for dual action as the 2026 portion of the schedule ramps up.

Action kicks off on the ACC Network Extra at 7 p.m. tonight.

🔼 Orange Crush. Midway through the first quarter, Carleigh Wenzel drilled a 3-pointer to break a tie and give the Virginia Tech women’s hoops team an early 14-11 lead.

From there, the Hokies would never look back, blitzing Syracuse en route to a dominant 77-57 road victory over the Orange, who had entered the matchup at 13-2 on the season.

Wenzel finished with a team-high 18 points, including a perfect 4-for-4 outing from long range. She also pulled down six rebounds and dished out five assists.

Samyha Suffren came off the bench to score 16 points, while Mackenzie Nelson (13 pts), Carys Baker (13) and Kilah Freelon (12) all finished in double-figures.

🔼 All Wrapped Up. Athletes who once graced Worsham Field with their explosive talent and playmaking ability continued to perform at the professional level during the season. Whether it was on the offensive or defensive side of the ball, or special teams, a mix of elite Hokie alumni talent contributed mightily to the success of their teams this fall.

In this week’s NFL Hokies entry, we look at the players who made a noticeable impact in the regular season – and highlight those who look to continue their success when the playoffs begin later this month.

🤔 HOKIE TRIVIA

Just like this season, the last time Virginia Tech traveled to Pittsburgh to square off with the Panthers, both teams were ranked in the top-25. The Hokies were #13 and Pitt sat at #22.

Of the 10 bouts that day (February 16, 2024), how many did the Hokies win?
