Good morning, Tech Fam. We can’t wait to watch these guys take the court next month!
What all are we covering in today’s edition, Hokies? Check it out below!
🏈 Tacklin’ Tremaine
🎾 Finals Bound
🏊 In Good Company
✍️ And much, much more!

🔼 Tacklin’ Tremaine. He’s nine years into his NFL career and Tremaine Edmunds continue to be a tackling machine.
In Sunday’s tie with Washington, Edmunds racked up nine more tackles for the New York Giants and now sits at 41 through the first five games of the 2026 season. He is looking for a ninth straight season of 100+ tackles.
The former Hokies now sits at 941 career tackles, needing just 59 to become the third Tech alum to reach 1,000 career tackles in the NFL.
🔼 Finals Bound. There’s nothing like playing at home!
Skip your lunch today and head over to Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center as the junior duo of Blake Hilsen and Eyal Shumilov advanced to the ITA Atlantic Region Double Championships with a dramatic 6-3, 6-7 (6-8), 14-12 semifinal victory over UVA’s duo of Stiles Brockett and Luca Preda.
First serve in today’s championship match is set for 12 p.m.
🔼 The Show Stopper. Last week, former Virginia Tech men’s soccer goalkeeper Sam Joseph was named the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro Goalkeeper of the Year.
Joseph earned the honor after a standout professional debut with Portland Timbers2, helping the club secure its first-ever MLS NEXT Pro postseason berth and the Pacific Division title. The San Diego, Calif., native led the league with 12 clean sheets, anchoring a defensive unit that conceded the second-fewest goals (29) in the league and record the second-fewest losses (4) during the regular season.
🔼 In Good Company. Amongst a field loaded with some of the best teams in the country, Virginia Tech swimming & diving wrapped up competition at the SMU Classic with both programs finishing ahead of ranked teams in the final standings.
The 11th-ranked men’s squad finished second with 256 points, defeating No. 21 SMU, Missouri and Arizona.
On the women’s side, the Hokies finished fifth overall and edged out No. 22 Arizona in the team standings.
🦃 INVEST TO WIN
Through the Invest to Win campaign, Virginia Tech is committed to building an athletics department that consistently competes on the national stage. That requires a financial model capable of supporting championship-level expectations. Virginia Tech is not waiting to see where the future of college athletics goes; we are investing in where we believe Virginia Tech Athletics belongs.
