🦃 INVEST TO WIN
Through the Invest to Win campaign, Virginia Tech is committed to building an athletics department that consistently competes on the national stage. That requires a financial model capable of supporting championship-level expectations. Virginia Tech is not waiting to see where the future of college athletics goes; we are investing in where we believe Virginia Tech Athletics belongs.
🔼 Saturdays At Lane. Returning home from their trip out west, the Hokies are set to host the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in a Homecoming matchup on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 3:30 p.m. ET.
The contest marks the fourth consecutive home game in the 2026 season that will be played in front of a sold-out Lane Stadium. Hokie fans still seeking tickets can visit SeatGeek, the official fan-to-fan ticket marketplace of Virginia Tech Athletics.
The exciting week of Homecoming festivities in southwest Virginia is punctuated by Saturday’s matchup.

🔼 Bo Knows. This weekend, Virginia Tech wrestling star Bo Bassett is back on the world stage yet again.
But before heading out to Vegas to compete at the 2026 U23 World Championships, Bassett spent some time on the mat with former national champion Caleb Henson.
Bassett is set to hit the mats tomorrow with all matches to be shown live on FloWrestling.
🔼 On The Docket. Another weekend of former Hokies all over the NFL as the regular season enters Week 6.
Sixteen Virginia Tech alums will be in action beginning Sunday morning with Wyatt Teller and the Texans battling Bhayshul Tuten and the Jaguars in London at 9:30 a.m. ET.
🦃 LEADING THE WAY
The Virginia Tech Board of Visitors today appointed Richard Linton as the university’s 17th president. Linton will succeed Tim Sands, who will continue to serve as president until Linton assumes office at the beginning of the 2027 spring semester.
Linton, an alumnus who received his bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and Ph.D. from Virginia Tech, currently serves as president of Kansas State University.
🤔 HOKIE TRIVIA
Earlier this month, Virginia Tech men’s soccer claimed the first point of this year’s edition of the Smithfield Commonwealth Clash.
Tonight, volleyball and women’s soccer add to this year’s chapter of the annual battle.
In 2021-22, the Hokies captured the victory in the clash. How many points did Virginia Tech accumulate that season?
