Signaling a new era for Virginia Tech Football, Board of Visitors Rector John Rocovich, President Tim Sands and Director of Athletics Whit Babcock announced the hiring of James Franklin as the next head coach of the Hokies.

A proven program-builder with a national reputation for elevating teams to championship contention, Franklin arrives in Blacksburg as a direct result of the collective commitment of the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors, University leadership, and the distinguished Search Committee — all aligned behind an ambitious, Invest to Win vision for the Hokies.

🔼 Helping Hands. This holiday season the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) at Virginia Tech is once again partnering with the Boys & Girls Club to purchase gifts for over 200 children in our community through the Adopt-A-Family initiative.

Their goal is to raise $6,000 by December 5^th  to purchase these presents for them! They will also throw parties at the participating schools (Eastern Montgomery High, Eastern Montgomery Elementary, Shawsville Middle and Christiansburg Middle School to pass out the gifts, celebrate the holiday season and the student's hard work.

Donations will be accepted through December 5^th .

SAAC will be able to purchase gifts on the student’s holiday wish list. Items in the past have included: art sets, basketballs, Legos, Amazon gift cards and more.

🔼 Battling The Best. The 10th-ranked Hokies wrestling team wrapped up the inaugural 2025 National Duals Invitational with a sixth-place finish on Sunday afternoon – splitting two dual meets on the day with a win over No. 15 Illinois and a loss in a rematch to No. 9 Minnesota.

In a loaded bracket featuring 16 of the top teams in the country, the Hokies won three duals over top 24 opponents while dropping two duals on the weekend in the BOK Center to improve to 4-2 on the season.

🔼 Sunday Showouts. The breakout season for former Tech standout Chamarri Conner continued this weekend, racking up his first sack of the season in the Chiefs’ AFC West showdown in Denver.

In just 10 games this year, Conner is already just one tackle away from a career-high with 76.

Also starring in NFL games this weekend, former Hokie Joey Slye had two field goals for 40+ yards and a total of seven points for the Titans, Tremaine Edmunds had nine tackles and a pass breakups for the Bears and Chuck Clark tallied five tackles in the Steelers’ home victory.

🔼 Making Waves. The Hokies are going global.

This past weekend, Virginia Tech swimming alum Ian Ho took first place in the 50 free LCM at the Chinese National Games, breaking his own Hong Kong national record and earning Champion of the Meet honors.

He now stands as the #1-ranked swimmer in the world in the 50 free.
