🎙️ BREAKING IT DOWN
A Big Game in “Big D!” Virginia Tech faces SMU Friday night in Dallas in a huge ACC football matchup.
In the latest episode of the Level Seven Podcast presented by CMG Leasing, Tech broadcasters Bill Roth and Mike Burnop preview the contest with key insight and analysis.
🔼 Grand Opening. Guards Ben Hammond and Jaylen Curry combined for 39 points, including seven 3-pointers, to lead the Virginia Tech men’s basketball team to a dominant 88-54 season-opening victory over visiting Coppin State on Tuesday night at Cassell Coliseum.
The backcourt duo led four Hokies in double-figures, including Amani Hansberry who nearly logged a double-double with 16 points, nine rebounds and four assists, while Tyler Johnson came off the bench to add 13 points and grab seven rebounds in the win.
🔼 Back To Work. Just 48 hours after its season-opening victory over NC Central, the Virginia Tech women’s basketball team is back in action tonight when it hosts the Fightin’ Blue Hens of the University of Delaware in non-conference action at Cassell Coliseum.
The Hokies opened the 2026-27 campaign with a dominant 85-39 win on Monday, forcing 29 turnovers, collecting 12 steals and scoring 30 fast-break points. Carleigh Wenzel led six Hokies in double figures with 17 points, while freshman Jessica Dimaro delivered an impressive collegiate debut with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Tonight’s tip-off on ACC Network Extra is set for 6 p.m.
🔼 Tourney Time. For the first time since 2021, the Virginia Tech men’s soccer team will host an ACC Tournament game at Thompson Field when the sixth-seeded Hokies welcome No. 11 seed NC State to town tonight.
The Hokies and Wolfpack battled to a 1-1 draw in Raleigh back on September 5. The winner will square off with either No. 3 Wake Forest or No. 14 Boston College in the ACC Quarterfinals on Sunday.
Kickoff on ACC Network Extra is set for 6 p.m. ET.
🔼 Making The List. Virginia Tech senior Valentine Delon was selected as one of the 11 women's golfers featured on the fall watchlist for the PING Women's Golf Coaches Association Player of the Year.
The fall watchlists highlight excellence throughout the year and recognize those who have made an early impact on their teams and across the collegiate landscape. Delon leads the Hokies with a 68.8 scoring average. She recorded a top-10 finish in each of her five fall events, including a pair of wins at the Nittany Lion Invitational and the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational.
The Paris, France native will get to represent her home country at next week's Spirit International Amateur Championship.
🔼 First Look. For a second straight game, Virginia Tech football hits the road, this time heading to Dallas for a critical Friday night ACC showdown with SMU.
The contest will be the first time the two teams have taken the field since 1974, bringing a new chapter into the history of the two institutions.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN.
