Hokies Sweep Weekend Of Action On The Court

The Virginia Tech hoops squad delivered just that with a 2-for-1 special this weekend at Cassell Coliseum!

🔼 Workin’ Overtime. The elves weren’t the only ones working overtime this past weekend as the Virginia Tech men’s basketball squad battled their way to an 82-81 home win over Elon on Saturday.
Amani Hansberry recorded a 20-point, 14-rebound double-double, leading five Hokies who scored 10 or more; Christian Gurdak (17), Ben Hammond (15), Izaiah Pasha (11) and Jaden Schutt (10).

🔼 Second Helpings. The Virginia Tech women’s basketball team put an exclamation point on their home non-conference slate on Sunday, rolling past Radford, 79-47, to finish a perfect 9-0 in non-conference action at Cassell Coliseum this season.
The Hokies ratcheted up the defensive effort in the second half, holding the Highlanders to 25-percent from the field after the break and outscoring Radford by 25 points.
Carys Baker led all scorers with a season-high 23 points, marking the third straight game with 20+ points. Kilah Freelon grabbed a career-best 17 rebounds to go along with nine points, while Mel Daley rounded out the double-figure scorers with 15 in the win.
🔼 Making Waves. Outside it may be winter, but in the pool, it’s getting hot for senior standout Carmen Weiler Sastre.
This past weekend, Sastre etched her name in the Spanish national record books.
Sastre was a part of a 4×1 relay crew, which set a Spanish record with a time of XXXV Copa de Espana de Clubes.
