Good Morning, Tech Fam. This is what you call team basketball.

What a thing of beauty!

What else are we covering in today’s edition, Hokies?

🦃 And much, much more!

🔼 California Love. Behind a career performance from redshirt sophomore guard Samyha Suffren, the Virginia Tech women’s basketball squad swept through its west coast trip, taking down Cal, 68-58, on Sunday afternoon.

The victory is the 20th of the season for the Hokies.

Suffren finished with a career-high 19 points for the Hokies, while Carleigh Wenzel continued her torrid pace, with her 11th straight double-digit scoring performance with 15 points. Kilah Freelon added her fifth double-double of the year with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

🔼 Staking Their Claim. With just one regular season ACC dual on the schedule, the sixth-ranked Virginia Tech wrestling squad secured at least a share of the 2026 ACC regular season title with a dominant 29-9 win over #13 North Carolina on Friday night.

It marked the seventh top-25 victory of the year for the Hokies.

Virginia Tech won eight of ten bouts with three via bonus and two upset wins by No. 33 Mac Church and No. 32 Jaden Bullock.

🔼 Grand Opening. The Virginia Tech baseball team returned to the diamond in a big way over the weekend, sweeping its season-opening series at English Field against in-state challenger William & Mary.

Outscoring the Tribe by the combined 25-11 margin, the Hokies received clutch offensive contribution from sophomore Sam Grube, who hit three doubles during Friday’s win and delivered the walk-off, two-RBI single during Saturday’s doubleheader opener. On the mound, right-hander Preston Crowl recorded seven strikeouts on Friday through five innings of relief work, laying the foundation for Virginia Tech's arms to strike out 36 batters during the three-game series.

🔼 Tossin’ Hats. The dynamic duo of Lauren Render and Sarah Murrell led the Virginia Tech lacrosse team to a dominant 16-11 home victory over Louisville on Saturday for the first ACC win of the season.

Render led the way with five goals and an assist, while Murrell added three goals as both tallied a hat trick in the win.

Virginia Tech Football’s 2026 Spring Game presented by Eagle Construction
is scheduled for Saturday, April 18, with an afternoon kickoff time to be determined.

The game will be free admission and open to the public.

🔼 New Ink Needed. Hopefully the Virginia Tech track & field programmed order the ink in bulk because the Hokies continue to rewrite the record books this season.

A busy weekend on the track was highlighted by record-breaking performances from George Couttie, Katie Bohlke and Katrin Brzyszkowska, followed by an array of Hokies breaking into the program’s all-time top 10 list across multiple meets.
