🏈 SPRING HAS SPRUNG

Coach Franklin and the Hokies officially kicked off Spring Ball this week as they lead up to the Spring Game on April 18th.

🔼 Chasing Championships. The Virginia Tech wrestling team is heading to the 2026 NCAA Wrestling Championship in Cleveland, Ohio, with a program-record four top-four seeds. The Hokies, who have secured back-to-back ACC team titles, automatically qualified all 10 starters for the championship. The first session begins today at noon, followed by the second session at 7 p.m. Fans can watch on ESPN2, ESPN, and ESPN+.

🔼 Grand Ol’ Time. Virginia Tech baseball beat VCU 11-8 in a high-scoring game at English Field. VCU’s defensive errors led to seven unearned runs for the Hokies. Despite VCU’s comeback attempts, Virginia Tech secured the win with strong pitching and timely hitting. The Hokies will host Duke this weekend.

🔼 Midweek Sweep. The 14th-ranked Virginia Tech softball team swept its midweek doubleheader against Longwood, winning the first game 12-0 and the second game 7-1. In the first game, Virginia Tech scored early and often, with Rachel Castine delivering a two-RBI single in the fourth inning. In the second game, the Hokies rallied after falling behind, with Zoe Yaeger and Jordan Lynch hitting home runs to secure the win.

🔼 Excellence Earns Recognition. Virginia Tech’s Carleigh Wenzel is a finalist for the WBCA Coaches’ All-America Team. Wenzel is the Hokies’ top scorer and led the team to postseason play with 15.3 points per game.

🏀 KNOW THE FOE

Virginia Tech women’s basketball will take on eighth-seeded Oregon in the NCAA Tournament tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. This will be the Hokies’ 14th NCAA Tournament appearance and the first for head coach Megan Duffy with the team. Oregon, led by guard Katie Fiso, enters the tournament with a 22-12 record and notable wins against ranked teams. They sit 11th in the Big Ten Conference and defeated Purdue and Maryland in the conference tournament.
