🔼 Flyin’ High. The 12th-ranked Virginia Tech softball team blasted their way to a three-game ACC series sweep of Boston College over the weekend. The three wins extend the Hokies’ win streak to nine and improve their overall record to 31-4.

In the three games, the Hokies pounded out 42 hits en route to 42 runs, earning run rule victories in every contest.

🔼 King George. Following a historic indoor season, George Couttie was named the ACC Men’s Indoor Track and Field Performer of the Year honors for 2026.

Couttie delivered one of the most decorated seasons in program history, highlighted by a runner-up finish in the mile at the NCAA Indoor Championships in 3:59.30 to earn First Team All-American honors. He also placed 11th in the 3,000 meters (8:07.18), securing Second Team All-American recognition for the second consecutive year in the event. 

He ranked No. 2 nationally in the mile, breaking his own Virginia Tech record with a time of 3:52.02—No. 7 all-time in NCAA history—and set the program record in the 3,000 meters at 7:36.74, which ranks No. 9 all-time collegiately. Couttie also contributed to Virginia Tech’s distance medley relay record, which stands No. 3 all-time. 

🔼 Among The Elite. The NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships came to a close in Atlanta over the weekend and the Hokies were among the country’s elite, finishing 11th overall. The finish was marked by three First Team All-American honors, 19 Honorable Mention All-Americans honors and five school records. 

Brendan Whitfield had an outstanding performance as he posted an individual school record in the 200 free (1:31.49), and was part of three relay school records. His performance earned him First Team All-American honors in the 50 free (18.66) and 100 free (41.22), and Honorable Mention All-American honors in the 200 free (1:31.49). 

Eli Martin had a standout performance as well, logging First Team All-American honors for his 200 breast swim (1:52.04).
