Baseball, Lacrosse Pick Up Non-Conference Midweek Victories

Good Morning, Tech Fam. Who doesn’t love a good two-for-one special?
That’s what the Hokies delivered on Tuesday!

🔼 We’ll Take A Baker’s Dozen. The scoring started early and often for the Virginia Tech baseball squad as the Hokies jumped out to an 8-0 lead two-and-half innings into Tuesday’s in-state battle with Radford. Tech used the hot start to roll to a 13-5 midweek victory over the Highlanders.
Junior Nick Locurto bashed two HRs to pace the offense, which collected 12 hits on the night. Ethan Gibson and Treyson Hughes also homered for the Hokies in the victory.
On the mound, Danny Lazaro was dominant out of the pen for the Hokies, tossing 2.2 innings of scoreless baseball, allowing just one hit and striking out five.
🔼 Midweek Magic. The Virginia Tech lacrosse squad wrapped up its regular season non-conference action for 2026 with an offensive outburst in a 14-10 victory over visiting East Carolina.
Ally Phalines led the way offensively, tallying her first career hat trick while Catherine Karman, Lauren Render and Reese Wallich all scored two goals apiece.
In goal, Malie Follet had seven saves in the win, her eleventh game of the season with five or more saves.
🔼 In The Nick Of Time. After a podium finish at the Raleigh Relays, Nicholas Kipchirchir was named ACC Men’s Outdoor Track Co-Athlete of the Week.
Kipchirchir competed in the 10,000 meters at the Raleigh Relays on March 26, finishing second with a time of 28:26.94. His mark ranks No. 2 nationally and on the Division I East qualifying list and currently leads the ACC in the event.
🔼 Dynamic Duo. Veteran tennis standouts Arina Arina Gamretkaia and Özlem Uslu continued to be among the nation’s best this week, earning at #45 ranking in the latest ITA doubles rankings.
The Tech tandem have eight wins at the top doubles spot, including two against nationally-ranked opponents.

Hokie fans will have the opportunity to take their Spring Game experience to the next level with Maroon and Orange Memories, a collection of can’t-miss moments that place the fan in the center of the action. It’s the perfect time to invest in memory-making opportunities as the Virginia Tech Hokies take the field for the first time in the James Franklin era.
Maroon and Orange Memories are the best way to enhance what is already an electric gameday atmosphere. From behind-the-scenes looks at the Hokies to entertainment beyond the gridiron, fans can make their trip to Blacksburg one for the history books.
