Hokies Combine For Sixth No-Hitter In Program History
Good Morning, Tech Fam. History was made at English Field last night!
What else are we covering in today’s edition, Hokies?
⚾️ A No-No Party
🎾 Marchin’ On
📈 Movin’ On Up
🦃 And much, much more!
🔼 A No-No Party. It was a historic night for the Virginia Tech Baseball program.
For the sixth time in program history and first since 2000, the Hokies combined for a no-hitter in a dominant 14-0 victory over Radford on Tuesday night.
Madden Clement, Ethan Grim, Brody Roe, Josh Berzonski and Danny Lazaro united for the 99-pitch, 21-batter masterpiece as Virginia Tech no-hit its opposition for the first time since May 13, 2000, against La Salle.
🔼 National Notoriety. Even before being a part of history last night, it was quite a day for Virginia Tech standout Henry Cooke.
Earlier on Tuesday, Cooke was named the Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Week.
The Stuarts Draft, Va., native went 9-for-16 at the plate with a double, a triple and a home run, charting three multi-hit performances during each of the Hokies’ ACC games against Boston College.
🔼 Marchin’ On. For the second time in the past three seasons, the Virginia Tech women’s tennis team is marching on at the ACC Tournament.
On Tuesday, the Hokies grabbed momentum early and battled their way to a gritty 4-2 win over Louisville to move into the second round.
Tech will now square off with ninth-seeded Stanford this afternoon at 3:30 pm.
🔼 Movin’ On Up. After securing two more nationally-ranked wins this past weekend against #21 Virginia, the Hokie softball squad climbed their way into the top-10 for the first time this season.
Virginia Tech is ranked #10 in the latest national polls with a 36-6 overall record and are set to embark on eight straight games played inside the Commmonwealth of Virginia, including seven in Blacksburg.
