Good morning, Tech Fam. We can’t wait to see y’all at English Field this weekend!

What else are we covering in today’s edition, Hokies?

☀️ Diamond Days Ahead
⛳️ And They’re Off
🏈 Dreams Coming True
🦃 And much, much more!

🔼 Diamond Days Ahead. Tourney time is less than a month away for both the Virginia Tech Softball and Baseball squads, which makes each ACC series even bigger and bigger down the stretch.

Both programs are at home this weekend with the baseball squad hosting NC State and the 16th-ranked softball team playing host to North Carolina.

🔼 What A Run. After 12 years of leadership that reshaped Virginia Tech Athletics, Whit Babcock announced that he will transition from his role as the director of athletics, effective June 30, 2026. He leaves a legacy defined by competitive success, transformative fundraising and a steadfast commitment to creating memorable experiences for student-athletes and fans.

Beginning July 1, 2026, Babcock will continue serving Virginia Tech as Athletics Director Emeritus, an advisory role to the university president and the new athletics director. In this role, he will support strategic planning initiatives and provide guidance on conference-related matters and the evolving national landscape of college athletics.

🔼 Doublin’ Down. Following a stellar 2025-26 campaign, Virginia Tech’s Arina Gamretkaia and Özlem Uslu were named to the women’s tennis All-ACC Doubles Third Team on Thursday afternoon.

The duo finished their senior campaigns with two doubles wins at the ACC Championship, totaling 13 wins on the season.

🔼 Young Gun. With an excellent freshman campaign thus far, Bree Carrico has been named to the NFCA DI National Freshman of the Year Top 25 Watch List.

The redshirt freshman has been outstanding in the circle throughout the Hokies’ 2026 campaign. She currently leads the ACC with a 1.43 ERA, a number that also ranks her 10th nationally. Carrico sits with a 12-1 record in 27 appearances.

🔼 Dreams Coming True. With the NFL Draft underway, several Hokies are hoping to have their dreams come true this weekend by hearing their name called by the NFL Commissioner.

The second and third rounds of the draft will begin tonight at 7 p.m., while the final four rounds (4-7) will get underway on Saturday at 12 p.m.
