🏈 OFFICIALLY ENSHRINED

One of the most electrifying players in college football history is officially enshrined into the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame after former Hokie, Michael Vick, was welcomed as part of the Class of 2026 over the weekend.

Vick, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2001 NFL Draft, rose to national prominence during his standout collegiate career at Tech from 1999–2001, a tenure that led to his jersey retirement and later an accomplished NFL career.

During his two seasons as the Hokies' starting quarterback, Virginia Tech posted a remarkable 22-2 record, capturing a Big East title and reaching the BCS National Championship Game in his redshirt freshman campaign.

🔼 Not In Our House. A walk-off blast from Nora Abromavage in Friday’s series opener set the tone for the weekend as the 16th-ranked Virginia Tech Softball squad swept its final home regular season series of the year from North Carolina.

The Hokies blasted nine home runs to pace an offensive attack that scored 25 runs in the three games with victories of 6-5, 14-5 and 5-4 over the Tar Heels.

Tech now heads to Syracuse for the final ACC series of the year before the upcoming ACC Tournament, scheduled from May 6-9 in Charlottesville, Va.

🔼 Sent Packin’. No better time to get hot than the stretch run, right?

That’s exactly what the Virginia Tech Baseball squad is doing as the Hokies have now won six of their past eight after taking two-of-three from visiting NC State at English Field over the weekend.

Right-handers Brett Renfrow and Griffin Stieg delivered monster performances on the mound for Tech to grab a 4-0 win in the opener and 5-4 thriller in the finale to take the series.

🔼 The Grind Never Stopped. Former Tech standout Nickeil Alexander-Walker never stopped grinding and it paid off over the weekend as the former Hokie was named the NBA’s 2026 Most Improved Player.

He scored a career-best 20.8 points per game, more than doubling his average from his first six pro seasons. He shot a career-best 46% and also averaged more assists (3.7), rebounds (3.4) and steals (1.3) than ever before.

🔼 Future Shinin’ Bright. We all know what the saying is, but this time, it’s not staying in Vegas.

A pair of future Hokies shined against the country’s finest this past weekend at the US Open Championships in Las Vegas.

Bo Bassett (65kg) not only won the US Open Championship, but also took home the top spot in the U20 Championship. Ryan Burton (79kg) also took home the U20 title this weekend.

🔼 Setting The Pace. Thirteen members (four women and nine men) of the Virginia Tech indoor track and field team were named to the 2026 ACC All-Academic Team.

To be eligible for All-ACC Academic honors, student-athletes must maintain a minimum 3.0 grade-point average over the previous two semesters and a 3.0 cumulative GPA for their academic career. Nominees must be enrolled at their institution for at least one year, classified as undergraduates, and have competed in the ACC Championships, or NCAA Championships.
