Tech Heads To Baton Rouge To Play In LSU Regional

🔼 Bayou Bound. For the seventh straight season, the Virginia Tech Softball team is regional bound. This time, the Hokies are headed down to the Bayou as the No. 2 seed in the Baton Rouge Regional, hosted by LSU.
Tech’s first game will be against South Alabama on Friday, May 15, at 4 p.m. on ESPN+. The four schools in the Baton Rouge Regional are LSU (1), Virginia Tech (2), South Alabama (3), and Akron (4).
The Hokies’ 44 regular season wins this year are the most in a single season since 2019.
🥎 More On The NCAA Tournament Selection
🔼 Teein’ It Up. For the third straight year, the Virginia Tech women’s golf squad will tee it up at NCAA Regionals this week.
This morning in Simpsonville, Ky., the Hokies will be one of 12 teams competing for a spot at the NCAA Women’s Golf Championships later this month in Carslbad, Calif.
The top five teams (30 total) and the top individual not on an advancing team (six total) from each region will advance.
🔼 Growing Fam. Another day. Another new Hokie joining the flock.
On Saturday, Mike Young and the Virginia Tech men’s basketball team announced the signing of 6-foot-10 forward Musa Sagnia. Sagnia spent his first season at the collegiate level at NC State where he played in 34 games averaging 12.4 minutes per contest.
Prior to NC State, the Bakau, The Gambia native played for Baxi Manresa in the Liga ACB, the top professional basketball division in Spain where he averaged 3.8 points and 3.1 rebounds per game in 33 games in the 2024-25 season.
🔼 Hardware Haul. The Virginia Tech men’s tennis team wrapped up its 2026 campaign by bringing home some hardware.
On Friday, the Hokies captured the 2026 NIT Championship in exciting fashion, taking down North Alabama, 4-2, in the finals.
With a 3-2 lead and two three-set matches remaining, Blake Hilsen clinched the match with a 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 victory. Hilsen won the NIT Championship MVP award after a 4-0 undefeated run in the tournament and winning the clinching match in both victories.

🔼 Slammin’ Sammy. Sophomore Sam Grube delivered not one, but two Mother’s Day gifts on Sunday, bashing two HRs to lead the Virginia Tech Baseball team to an 11-9 victory over visiting UNCG.
Grube, Pete Daniel and Willie Hurt each collected three hits apiece to power the Hokies, who chalked up their 11th win in their last 15 games. Grube’s 3-for-4 day was highlighted by a double and two home runs that netted three RBIs, while Hurt carved out three parts of the cycle from his opening three at-bats, setting a rookie season high with four RBIs.
