🔼 Midweek Meet-Up. Winners of nine of its past 12 games, the Virginia Tech Baseball team makes the 90-mile drive northwest to square off with in-state foe, Liberty.
Kicking off a stretch of four straight non-conference games, the Hokies and Flames will battle on ESPN+ tonight. First pitch is set for 6 pm.
Tech is 10-3 against in-state opponents this season.
🔼 Match The Million. Virginia Tech wrestling head coach Tony Robie announced the single largest cash donation in program history - a $1 million philanthropic gift given by the generosity of Dave and Heidi Jester of Virginia Beach. The transformational gift will support recruiting, staffing, facilities, and many other programmatic needs.
The Jesters make their landmark contribution with a clear purpose: they believe in Coach Robie and staff, in his vision for the program, and in the young men who represent Virginia Tech proudly on their singlet and off the mat each season.
🔼 Chart Topper. Not only did Katrin Brzyszkowska etch her name on the top of the Virginia Tech charts, but she also earned ACC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week accolades in doing so.
Brzyszkowska competed at the Jim Green Invitational in Lexington, Kentucky, on May 2, winning the shot put with a throw of 17.40 meters (57 feet, 1 inch). Her mark currently ranks second in the ACC, seventh in the NCAA East Region and 12th in NCAA Division I. It also stands as the top outdoor mark in Virginia Tech history.
🔼 Tomorrow, Tomorrow. Coming off a sweep of Syracuse, the Virginia Tech softball team heads to Charlottesville as the No. 3 seed in the ACC Softball Championship.
The Hokies earned a first-round bye and will play the winner of No. 6 Virginia/No. 11 Pitt on tomorrow at 7:30 p.m.
This season, Tech won six ACC series to finish at 18-6 within the conference.
🔼 Class Acts. Virginia Tech Athletics’ success wasn’t just in competition, but also in the classroom.
Tech continued to display impressive results in the NCAA's latest Academic Progress Rate Institutional Report, which was released Tuesday afternoon by the NCAA.
Five teams, men's cross country, men's golf, women's golf, women's lacrosse and women's tennis delivered a perfect multiyear rate of 1,000. Eighteen Hokie programs posted at least a 970. A total of 12 teams had a perfect APR for the 2024-25 academic year, the Hokies' second successive year with a dozen perfect squads.
