🔼 Mazzarone Magic. All the 16th-ranked Virginia Tech Softball team needed on Thursday night in the fourth edition of the Smithfield Commonwealth Clash was the left arm of junior Emma Mazzarone.
Mazzarone was absolutely electric in the ACC Quarterfinals, racking up a career-high 14 strikeouts to lead the Hokies to a 3-1 victory over Virginia and a date with second-seeded Duke on Friday afternoon in the ACC Semifinals.
The victory gave Mazzarone her ninth complete game of the season and improved her record to 16-4 on the year.
Offensively, Addison Foster went 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Zoe Yaeger and Annika Rohs both drove in runs for Tech.

The Kingston, New York native posted 23 games in double figures, including scoring 20 or more three times.
