🏈 COUNTIN’ DOWN: 82 DAYS

Throughout the summer, we will be counting down the days
to the return of Virginia Tech Football this fall. The Hokies will host
VMI on September 5 at 7:30 p.m.

A foundational piece of the Virginia Tech offense over the past three seasons is back in Blacksburg in #82 Benji Gosnell.

Gosnell returns for one final season with the Hokies after making 33 straight starts at tight end entering the upcoming 2026 campaign.

In his career at Tech, the North Carolina native has piled up 56 catches for 564 yards and three TDs.

🔼 All-American Kids. It was quite a haul for the Virginia Tech track & field program at NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore this past weekend.

A trio of Hokies capped off quite a week with First Team All-American accolades bringing Tech’s total to five first team honorees.

Katie Bohlke (5000m), Jule Lindner (3000m steeplechase) and Christian Jackson (800m) all earned top-8 finishes in the final two days of the meet.

🔼 Another Piece To The Puzzle. Head Coach Mike Young and the Virginia Tech men’s basketball program added another piece to the 2026-27 roster over the weekend with the signing of 6-foot-8 guard Eltayeb Eltayeb.

The Omdurman, Sudan native played last season at Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire, Kansas where he was named a Prep All-American. Altayeb averaged 21.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game. He was also better than 43% from beyond the arc and was a scorching 72% on field goals inside the arc.

🦃 BUILDING SOMETHING SPECIAL

Momentum continues to build across Virginia Tech Athletics.

Over the past several months, Hokie Nation has seen a series of significant developments that underscore the university's commitment to competing and succeeding at the highest level of college athletics. From the launch of Hokie Ventures and continued progress through the Invest to Win initiative to a historic $75 million commitment that will help shape the future of Virginia Tech Athletics, the department continues to position itself for long-term success in an evolving landscape.

Following last week's Virginia Tech Board of Visitors presentation, host Evan Hughes sat down with Deputy Athletics Director Danny White and Executive Associate AD / Athletics Chief Financial Officer Brandon Hall for an in-depth conversation about the state of Virginia Tech Athletics. The discussion covers Hokie Ventures, facility investments, department-wide success, transformational philanthropy and the continued momentum surrounding Hokie Football.
