🏈 COUNTIN’ DOWN: 71 DAYS

Throughout the summer, we will be counting down the days
to the return of Virginia Tech Football this fall. The Hokies will host
VMI on September 5 at 7:30 p.m.

One of best defensive tackles to play during the Frank Beamer era wore #7️⃣1️⃣, David Pugh.

Pugh was a two-time All-BIG EAST First Team honoree as he racked up 13.5 sacks during his time in Blacksburg. He also tallied 41 TFLs and 170 total tackles.

One of Pugh’s most memorable moments came in 2000 against Pitt. With the second-ranked Hokies clinging to a 37-34 lead, the Panthers had one last shot as time ran down, but Pugh came through with the sack of Pitt QB David Priestly to seal the victory.

🔼 Meeting With The Mountaineers. The Virginia Tech men’s basketball team is set to take on West Virginia for each of the next three seasons.

The first meeting in 2026 will take place in Morgantown on Saturday, Dec. 5, while the Mountaineers will travel to Blacksburg in 2027 and the programs will meet in Charleston, West Virginia sometime in 2028.

Separated by just 250 miles, the two programs have not met since December of 2015.

🔼 Baseball On Broadway. After making its debut at the 2026 Amegy Bank College Baseball Series at Globe Life Field (Arlington, Texas), the Virginia Tech baseball team has accepted its invitation from REV Entertainment to be part of the inaugural four-team field slated to compete during the event’s 2027 expansion at First Horizon Park in Nashville, Tennessee.

From March 5 to March 7 – the third weekend of the 2027 regular season – the Hokies will contest one game apiece against Cincinnati, Ohio State and Vanderbilt. Game times and matchups, as well as broadcast information, will be disseminated at a later date.
