🏈 COUNTIN’ DOWN: 68 DAYS

Throughout the summer, we will be counting down the days
to the return of Virginia Tech Football this fall. The Hokies will host
VMI on September 5 at 7:30 p.m.

A fixture on the offensive line from 2009-2011, #6️⃣8️⃣ Jaymes Brooks was a Commonwealth native who worked his way to an All-ACC career for the Hokies.

Arriving in Blacksburg after a stellar career at Denbigh High School in Newport News, Brooks played off and on through his first two seasons before becoming a permanent part along Tech’s offensive as a redshirt sophomore in 2009. He would start every game in both his junior and senior seasons, culminating in All-ACC selections in each of those campaigns at guard.

During Brooks’ five seasons on campus, the Hokies won a total of 53 games, including 42 wins during his four playing seasons. Tech won the ACC three different times during Brooks’ tenure and made three appearances in the Orange Bowl, one Sugar Bowl appearance and one Chick-Fil-A Bowl appearance.

🔼 Victorious Valentine. Tech’s own Valentine Delon emerged victorious in The 123rd Women's Amateur Championship by narrowly beating Andrea Revuelta in the 36-hole Final at Muirfield this past weekend.

The rising senior took an early lead and held off several fightbacks from her battling Spanish opponent before completing a 3&1 triumph. The first French player to lift the trophy since Céline Boutier in 2015, Delon joins an impressive list of Women’s Amateur winners that includes Leona Maguire, Georgia Hall and Anna Nordqvist.

The success earns her a place in four major championships – The Amundi Evian Championship and the AIG Women’s Open later this summer, as well as the Chevron Championship and the US Women’s Open presented by Ally in 2027.

Delon will also, by tradition, earn a spot in next year’s Augusta National Women’s Amateur as well as invitations to August’s Standard Portland Classic on the LPGA Tour and a Ladies’ European Tour event.

🔼 Putting The Puzzle Together. The pieces are in place for the Virginia Tech men’s basketball squad. Now it’s time to get to work.

With nearly 40-percent of their scoring returning from last season, the Hokies are third in the ACC in highest scoring percentage back in 2026-27.
