🏈 COUNTIN’ THE DAYS: 93 DAYS

Throughout the summer, we will be counting down the days
to the return of Virginia Tech Football this fall. The Hokies will host
VMI on September 5 at 7:30 p.m.

Transferring into Virginia Tech in 1980, Robert Brown quickly became one of the program’s best defensive players ever.

In his first season, he helped the Hokies earn a trip to the Peach Bowl, only the fourth bowl game in school history. Brown was awarded numerous honors following his junior year, including being named an Honorable Mention All-American; he was also named the state's top defensive player by both the Roanoke Valley Sports Club and the Touchdown Club of Richmond.

As a senior in 1981, he became only the seventh Hokie to earn All-American honors after being named to the second team.

After leaving Tech, Brown enjoyed an 11-year career with the Green Bay Packers. He was the Packers' starting defensive end from 1986 – 1992. Brown was inducted into the Virginia Tech Sports Hall of Fame in 1998.

🔼 He’s Bacckkk. After missing nearly a month on the injured list, former Virginia Tech standout Kerry Carpenter has returned to the lineup for the Detroit Tigers in a big way.

In his first two games since his return, Carpenter is 5-for-10 with a HR and two RBIs.

Sitting with seven HRs this year, he is looking to become the first former Hokie to have three 20+ HR seasons.

🔼 Secure Your Seat. The wait for basketball season starts now!

Men’s basketball ticket memberships and women’s basketball season tickets for the 2026-27 season go on sale to the general public today at 10 a.m. ET.

Fans can unlock presale access before 10 a.m. ET by downloading the HokieSports mobile app and creating a profile to become a digital subscriber.

🔼 Balled Out. Freshman sensation Ethan Ball put an exclamation point on his incredible debut season with the Hokies with a standout performance at the NCAA Los Angeles Regional.

His postseason showing garnered All-Tournament Team accolades from the regional after hitting safely in all four of Tech’s games, including four HRs and driving in five and scoring seven runs.

🦃 BEING BOLD

Earlier this week, the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors approved an affiliation agreement with the newly created Hokie Ventures, a nonprofit corporation that will support the long-term growth and competitiveness of Virginia Tech Athletics through modernized revenue generation, strategic investments and athletics donor relations.

Hokie Ventures is designed to create greater flexibility and strategic agility as college athletics continues to undergo rapid transformation driven by revenue sharing, Name, Image and Likeness (NIL), media rights evolution and changing governance models nationally.
