🏈 COUNTIN’ DOWN: 88 DAYS
Throughout the summer, we will be counting down the days
to the return of Virginia Tech Football this fall. The Hokies will host
VMI on September 5 at 7:30 p.m.
Wearing #88 again this fall will be redshirt freshman defensive lineman, Christian Evans.
Evans was one of the top defensive products to come out of Virginia in 2024 after a star-studded career at Stone Bridge High School in Leesburg, Va.
Last season, he saw action in two games for the Hokies and after grinding through the offseason, Evans is ready to make some noise this fall for Tech.
🔼 All-American Guys. A pair of incoming freshman earned FloSports All-American accolades this week with Bo Bassett leading the way with a first team accolade at the 144-pound weight class.
Nicholas Garcia also earned a spot on the Third Team at the 132 pound slot for the Hokies as the future continue to gets brighter and brighter for Tech.
🔼 Ballin’ Out. Compiling one of the Virginia Tech baseball program’s finest rookie seasons on record, infielder Ethan Ball was named to the 2026 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) NCAA Division I Freshman All-America Second Team.
One of 34 national honorees heralded by the NCBWA this season, Ball became Virginia Tech’s 12th recognized Freshman All-American and the fifth such mention to come through the program during John Szefc’s head coaching tenure in Blacksburg.
🔼 Almost Time. In just less than 40 hours, the Virginia Tech track & field squad will step onto the surface at historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore., to battle the country’s best at the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
10 different Hokies will be competing at the meet:
