Less than a week after being formally introduced to Hokie Nation, new Director of Athletics Brian White sat down to pen his first letter to the best fans in the country and share his vision for the future of Virginia Tech Athletics

🏈 COUNTIN’ DOWN: 66 DAYS

Throughout the summer, we will be counting down the days
to the return of Virginia Tech Football this fall. The Hokies will host
VMI on September 5 at 7:30 p.m.

He’s back for one more ride.

That’s right, #6️⃣6️⃣ Montavious Cunningham is back for one more season with the Virginia Tech Football program.

Cunningham, who arrived in Blacksburg prior to the 2024 season after spending three seasons at Georgia State, has played in 17 games for the Hokies over the past two years.

The 6-3, 320-pound offensive lineman has played both the guard and tackle position, as well as spent time on special teams. He heads into his final year of eligibility looking to battle for a spot up front for the Hokies.

🔼 Going Global. Some people may be heading to the beach or a fireworks show this weekend, but for new Hokies men’s hoops standout, Kuol Atak, he’s got some other plans.

This week, Atak was called up to the South Sudan Men’s National Team and will be a part of the roster for the FIBA World Cup 2027 Qualifying Games.

Atak will join the squad for games against Libya (July 2), Cape Verde (July 3) and Cameroon (July 5).

🔼 Academic Aces. An ace on the golf course is a rare occasion.

An ace in the classroom is not rare at all for the Virginia Tech golf programs.

This week, nine different Hokies were named to the 2026 All-ACC Academic Teams.

For the men’s side, Benjamin Baker, Ashton Harper, Aiden Patel, Rahul Rajendran and Gareth Steyn were recognized, while Valentine Delon, Savannah Dupre, Emily Mathews and Xin Yao Wang garnered accolades for the women’s side.

🏈 THE SUITE LIFE

Sandman Suites, located at field level inside Lane Stadium, are going quickly. Fans interested in a private group premium gameday experience can request more information from the premium seating team by completing the Sandman Suites Interest Form.
