🏈 COUNTIN’ DOWN: 4️⃣3️⃣ DAYS

Throughout the summer, we will be counting down the days
to the return of Virginia Tech Football this fall. The Hokies will host
VMI on September 5 at 7:30 p.m.

Growing up about 150 miles from Blacksburg, Michael Hawkes might have arrived on campus as an unknown, but after graduation in 1999, all Hokie fans knew his name.

Hawkes was a special teams player for his first two seasons before earning a starting linebacker spot in 1998 and 1999 for Virginia Tech.

During his two seasons in the lineup, he racked up 172 tackles, 9.5 sacks and five INTs, which earned him a free-agent contract with the Carolina Panthers in 2000.

🏈 SECURE YOUR SPOT

Hokie fans now have the opportunity to purchase single-game tickets with location for the 2026 season and secure their seats for an exciting new chapter of Hokie football head coach James Franklin

🔼 Fresh Face Friday. With training camp less than two weeks away, there’s no better time to get to know some of the new faces who will be putting on Tech jerseys for the first time this fall.

First up, let’s meet Luke Reynolds, a Massachusetts native who transferred to Virginia Tech after spending his first two seasons at Penn State.

Reynolds hauled in 35 passes with the Nittany Lions and had a monster spring season with the Hokies.

🔼 Off To The Races. A trio of former Hokie standouts are set to take on some of the best talent in the country at this week’s USATF Outdoor Championships at Icahn Stadium in New York, N.Y.

Christian Jackson (800m), Conner McClure (Pole Vault) and Nick Plant (1500m) will all lace them up and compete against the best with races set to run through Sunday.

🔼 Head Of The Class. Virginia Tech lacrosse continues to collect accolades on and off the field as 11 student-athletes were named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Roll for the 2025-26 academic year.

The Hokies were also named a 2026 IWCLA Academic Honor Squad, a status for teams that have recorded a 3.2 or higher team GPA for the academic year.

🤔 HOKIE TRIVIA

Senior Anna Weir and the Virginia Tech women’s soccer team are less than three weeks from the official kickoff for the 2026 campaign.
