Kickoff is almost here, which means Fan Day is close!
Virginia Tech will host its annual Fan Day on THIS SUNDAY, August 16 from 4-5 p.m. ET, offering Hokie fans a special opportunity to meet the Hokies' student-athletes as excitement continues to build for a new era of football in Blacksburg.
🔼 We’re Back! Virginia Tech Athletics and Playfly Sports, the Hokies' multimedia rights partner have unveiled the fall lineup for the 17th season of Tech Talk Live presented by The Hokie Way.
Tech Talk Live is a weekly show that takes place at McClain’s at First & Main throughout the season and is hosted by Evan Hughes and Virginia Tech Sports Hall of Famer Mike Burnop that features in-depth conversations with Virginia Tech student-athletes, coaches and staff members.
🔼 Movin’ On Up. One of our own received a well-earned promotion this week as Virginia Tech announced the elevation of Evan Hughes to the role of director of broadcasting for Virginia Tech Sports Network.
The Hokie alumnus will oversee the relationships between the 40+ radio affiliates that make up the Virginia Tech Sports Network and will also handle the day-to-day operation of the network and radio broadcasts of all Virginia Tech sports.
🔼 Just Getting Started. For the sixth consecutive season, the Hokies are 1-0 as Virginia Tech women’s soccer battled their way to a 2-1 victory over in-state foe, Old Dominion, in the season opener on Thursday night at Thompson Field.
Sophomore Hannah Pachan and freshman Riley Karpinski both found the back of the net for Tech.
🔼 Under The Lights. With kickoff getting closer and closer, the Virginia Tech Football squad hit the field under the lights of Lane Stadium this week.

🔼 Fresh Face Friday. With training camp well underway, there’s no better time to get to know some of the new faces who will be putting on Tech jerseys for the first time this fall.
This week, we’re introducing Hokie Nation to linebacker and Philadelphia native Keon Wylie.
🔼 Between The Arches. Earlier this summer, Virginia Tech women’s hoops unveiled a brand new series, “Between The Arches.”
Each week, Evan Hughes will introduce a member of this year’s roster heading into the upcoming 2026-27 season.
This week, we’re talking with sophomore forward, Aniya Trent.
🏈 COUNTIN’ DOWN: 2️⃣2️⃣ DAYS
Very few Hokies throughout program history had a better knack for getting into the endzone than #2️⃣2️⃣ Lee Suggs.
“TD Lee” burst onto the scene in 2000 by scoring 28 touchdowns, leading all of Division I in both scoring and touchdowns. Suggs was named the Big East Co-Offensive Player of the Year, as well as a third team All-American.
During his time at Tech, Suggs set the NCAA record by scoring a TD in 27 consecutive games; he ended his career as the all-time Tech and Big East leader in both rushing touchdowns (53) and total touchdowns (56).
He was inducted into the Virginia Tech Sports Hall of Fame in 2014.
