🔼 Almost Showtime. While the rest of Hokie Nation prepares for classes to begin next week, a trio of Virginia Tech wrestlers are preparing to take on the world…. literally.
Beginning tomorrow, Aaron Seidel, Bo Bassett and Ryan Burton will be competing at the U20 World Championships in Bratislava, Slovakia.
It marks the first time in program history that Virginia Tech wrestling has three members representing the USA at the World Championships.
🔼 Runnin’ Man. Add another line to Marcellous Hawkins’ football resume.
On Tuesday, the Virginia Tech running back was named to the preseason watch list for the Doak Walker Award, presented annually to the nation’s top college football running back.
Hawkins enters the 2026 season after leading the Hokies in rushing in 2025, recording 749 yards and a touchdown on 118 carries. He averaged 6.3 yards per carry and recorded two 100-yard rushing performances, including a season-high 117 yards against Florida State.

🔼 All New Episode. Virginia Tech defensive end Aycen Stevens joins Hokies’ broadcasters Bill Roth and Mike Burnop to discuss pre-season camp and the start of the 2026 season. Stevens, a junior from Indianapolis, is currently the holder of Tech’s famous “Lunch Pail.”
Bill and Mike also offer their thoughts on Tech’s pre-season camp as we approach the season opener on September 5 vs. VMI.

🔼 All Aboard. This week, a pair of Hokies were named among the student-athlete leaders of the ACC.
The ACC announced its 2026-27 Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Executive Board, featuring student-athlete leaders who will help represent the perspectives and priorities of more than 12,200 student-athletes across the league.
Jane Brewer (women’s lacrosse) and Dylan DeCambre (men’s track & field/cross country) are Virginia Tech’s representatives for the upcoming season.
🏈 COUNTIN’ DOWN: 1️⃣7️⃣ DAYS
The No. 1️⃣7️⃣ has quite the history at Virginia Tech between Shayne Graham, Kam Chancellor and today’s highlight: Kyle Fuller.
Fuller was a three-time All-ACC performer and was named a Second Team All-American during his senior season in 2013.
During his illustrious career with the Hokies, Fuller racked up 173 tackles, 23.5 TFLs, 34 pass deflections, 23 passes broken up and six INTs.
In 2014, he was the 14th overall pick by the Chicago Bears and went on to enjoy a nine-year NFL career, in which he piled up 19 career INTs.
