No better place to get ready for Saturdays in the fall than Tech Talk Live, presented by The Hokie Way at McClain’s at First & Main.
Tonight, Evan Hughes and Virginia Tech Sports Hall of Famer Mike Burnop will help preview this weekend’s big matchup against another in-state foe and welcome some Hokies to talk about the season ahead.
The show will air from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. ET and will be broadcast across the Virginia Tech Sports Network and its 40+ radio affiliates, which can be found here. It will also air through the free Hokie Sports app.
🔼 Turning It Up. Entering his senior season at Virginia Tech, Thomas Williams was looking to take it up a notch this fall.
He did that and then some in the season opener against VMI, stifling the Keydets offense and picking up the first takeaway of the 2026 season for the Hokies with his third quarter interception.
For his performance, he earned a spot on the PFF National Team Of The Week.
🔼 The League Layout. The Atlantic Coast Conference revealed the full 2026-27 men's basketball schedule on Wednesday, with Virginia Tech opening its league slate on Carilion Clinic Court at Cassell Coliseum on Dec. 30 against Louisville.
The Hokies' conference opener vs. Louisville marks the seventh straight season they will open ACC play at home.
With the recent adjustment in ACC men's hoops to an 18-game schedule, the Hokies will play two home-and-home series, this season against rival Virginia, and Boston College.

🔼 Running Men. After breakout performances in Virginia Tech Cross Country’s season opener at Buford Meredith Cross Country Course, Roan Kelly earned ACC Performer of the Week and Robert Leonard earned ACC Freshman of the Week.
Kelly took first place at the VT Invitational in the 6k with an 18:11.6, while Leonard had quite a debut with the Hokies, earning a second-place finish with a personal best of 18:12.8.
🏈 FIVE THINGS TO KNOW
After a dominant season-opening win against VMI on Sept. 5, Tech football will look to claim consecutive home wins as they welcome Old Dominion to Lane Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 12 at noon ET. The matchup will serve as James Franklin’s second appearance in front of the Hokie faithful as head coach after what was a strong debut against the Keydets this past weekend.
