🔼 House Defended. Virginia Tech Football kept its strong start going under head coach James Franklin rolling past Old Dominion on Saturday, jumping on the Monarhcs early and cruising to a 44-21 victory at Lane Stadium.
The Hokies scored on each of their first five possessions and built a commanding 34-6 halftime lead. Ethan Grunkemeyer delivered a career performance, completing 31 passes for 327 yards and two touchdowns, while also adding a rushing score. Luke Reynolds had a breakout performance, posting a career high with eight catches for 108 yards and two TDs.
Defensively, Virginia Tech consistently disrupted the ODU offense, piling up seven sacks and keeping the Monarchs from finding much rhythm until the game was well in hand.
The victory moves Virginia Tech to 2-0 for the first time since 2021.

That’s exactly what the Virginia Tech men’s soccer team did on Sunday evening at Thompson Field, using two goals within the opening 16 minutes to propel the Hokies past Wake Forest, 2-1, in the ACC home opener.
Tech goalkeeper Diego Dauzier turned aside all five Wake Forest shots on target in the second half, finishing the match with six saves to earn his third win of the season.
With the win, head coach Mike Brizendine earned the 150th victory of his career.
🔼 Cookin’ It Up. It was quite a start to the week for Virginia Tech men’s golf, who fired a 12-under in Sunday’s first round at the J.T. Poston Invitational in North Carolina.
Leading the way was a record-setting day from sophomore Ben Baker, who tied a school record with an 8-under par, 63. Baker carded nine birdies on the day, the most in the field on day one.
🔼 Sunday Standouts. Saturday wasn’t the only day that the Hokies shined on the gridiron.
13 former Hokies lined up in week one of the NFL schedule.
Now in his ninth season in the league, Chuck Clark enjoyed his debut with Detroit, collecting his sixth career INT in the overtime victory for the Lions.
In his first season as a starter, Bhayshul Tuten racked up 88 total yards (66 rushing, 22 receiving) in the Jaguars opening day victory over Cleveland.

Tyson Flowers’ scoop and score in the first quarter of Saturday’s victory was the Hokies’ first fumble recovery for a touchdown since 2021.
