🔼 Rivalry Renewed. This weekend, the Virginia Tech Football program faces its first road test of the James Franklin era when they travel to College Park to face an old foe, Maryland, in a Saturday night showdown.
It will be the 33rd meeting between the two programs, but first regular season matchup since 2013. Saturday night kicks off the first off a four-game home-and-home series between the two schools.
Tech’s defensive unit will look to continue its disruptive start to the year as they’ve piled up 32 TFLs and 12 sacks through the first two games.
🔼 Welcome To The Fam. This week, Virginia Tech Athletics welcomed Chris Ryder as its new executive associate athletics director for capital projects, facilities and operations.
Ryder arrives in Blacksburg after spending nearly seven years at Florida Atlantic, where he most recently served as senior associate athletics director for facilities and event management.
As the Hokies’ senior facilities and game operations executive, Ryder will provide strategic leadership and oversight of the department’s capital projects, facilities and operations while serving as a member of the department’s senior leadership team.
🔼 Second Helpings. It was a strong three-day showing at the J.T. Poston Invitational for the Hokies, who carded a 26-under par en route to a tie for second place. The tournament took place at the Waynesville Inn and Golf Club in North Carolina.
Ben Baker tied fourth individually, carding a 10-under 203 (63-66-74) that was fueled by a field-best 8-under first round. Ashton Harper (72-71-67) and Sahish Reddy (74-66-70) each carded a 210 for a T-25th finish.

This, Virginia Tech Athletics unveiled this season’s single-game ticket offers for both men’s and women’s nonconference matchups.
All ticket options officially went on sale on Wednesday with the season opener less than 50 days away.

Hokie fans have two more opportunities to make their trip to Lane Stadium even more memorable as new Maroon & Orange Memories experiences are now available for Virginia Tech's upcoming matchups against Pitt on Friday, Oct. 2 and Georgia Tech on Saturday, Oct. 17.
Designed to bring fans closer to the action and create unforgettable gameday moments, Maroon & Orange Memories offers unique opportunities to celebrate special occasions, participate in exclusive gameday activities and take home Hokie-themed keepsakes.
New experiences are now available for both the Pitt and Georgia Tech games, giving fans even more ways to make their day at Lane Stadium one to remember.
