🔼 On The Prowl. The Virginia Tech football team wasn’t the only ones with fireworks to start the fall season.
On Monday, the Hokies women’s golf team followed suit, firing a 12-under through the first two rounds of the Nittany Lion Invitational to sit just one shot back of the leader, Maryland.
After spending the summer playing with some of the best players in the world, Valentine Delon returned to the course for Tech in a major way and enters this morning’s final round at 9-under for tournament, two shots better than the nearest competitor.
🔼 Record Rookie. With an RBI in five straight games, former Hokie TJ Rumfield propelled himself into the Virginia Tech record books over the weekend.
The first baseman for the Colorado Rockies has now reached 67 RBIs in his rookie season in the big leagues, the most by any former Hokie in their debut campaign, breaking the former mark of 64 set by Kerry Carpenter in 2023.
For the year, Rumfield is now hitting .299 with 15 HR and 65 runs scored.
🏈 LEVELING UP
Virginia Tech Athletics and Virginia Credit Union have announced an enhanced partnership that will bring Virginia Credit Union’s logo onto the field between the 20 and 30 yard lines at Lane Stadium, building on a connection between one of Virginia’s most recognized financial institutions and the Commonwealth’s most iconic sports venue.
Beginning with the 2026 football season, Virginia Credit Union’s branding will be prominently displayed on the field at Lane Stadium, providing the credit union with one of the most visible brand positions in collegiate athletics in Virginia and placing its brand directly in front of Hokie Nation and a national TV audience on game days.
