The Hokies spoke at the ACC Kickoff in Charlotte!

Good morning. Since 1987, Tech has seen 35 sets of brothers, and 30 father/son pairs suit up and take the field in Chicago maroon and burnt orange. This season, father Philip Montgomery is the offensive coordinator, and son Cannon Montgomery is the assistant running backs coach. 🔼 Live From Charlotte! Virginia Tech football stepped up to the podium on Thursday at the ACC Kickoff to preview the upcoming season!

🔼 On A Roll. The honors continue to roll in for Virginia Tech lacrosse, with nine student-athletes named to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association Academic Honor Roll this week. The Hokies were also named a 2025 IWCLA Academic Honor Squad, a status for teams that have recorded a 3.2 or higher team GPA for the academic year. 

🔼 Drafted! Virginia Tech had baseball players selected in the 2025 MLB Draft! Mathieu Curtis was picked by the Atlanta Braves in the 14th round. He pitched 38.2 innings in 2025 and struck out 49 batters. Jared Davis was selected in round 17 by the Athletics. He co-led the Hokies in 2025 in runs (43), RBIs (44) and stolen bases (14). Griffin Stieg was picked in round 18 by the Seattle Mariners. As a 2024 sophomore, he made 13 starts.

🔼 Academically Awesome! The USTFCCCA announced the track & field academic awards this week, with Virginia Tech landing 27 student-athletes on the list. To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic team, student athletes must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale including the most recent grading period. They also must have completed at least two semesters or three quarters at the nominating institution.

Guarding Goal. Leo Ledin will be new to Virginia Tech men’s soccer this fall, transferring to play with the Hokies after spending last season at Wofford College. Ledin started all 17 matches for Wofford last season, recording 48 saves and earning All-SoCon Freshman Team honors.
