🦃 STOCK UP

🔼 Week 1. The swim and dive team competed in its first event of the season. The men beat George Washington 218-81, and the women won 211-89. See all of the finishing times and scores here.

🔼 Season-High. Volleyball player Payton Woods recorded a season-high 16 kills in the Virginia Tech vs. Syracuse game on Friday night. The Hokies had a thrilling set that featured 15 ties and several lead changes. They pulled ahead to win set one 30-28, marking its third-highest scoring set of the season, but ultimately fell 3-1. The Hokies bounced back with a 3-1 victory over Boston College on Sunday. This marks the team’s first ACC win. Woods updated her season-high kills to 20. The team had 58 kills overall.

🔼 Even. The men’s soccer team tied No. 23 Notre Dame 1-1. Ethan Page made his debut as a Hokie in the 79th minute of the game and scored the equalizer just four minutes later. Overall, the team had 15 shots, and three were on goal. Sam Joseph tallied three saves.

🔼 Career Stats. Women’s soccer player Natalie Mitchell scored her sixth goal of the season against No. 1 Virginia. Lauren Hargrove notched a season and career-high in saves with nine, after falling 2-1. 

🔼 Court Report. The women’s tennis team competed in the 49er Invitational this past weekend. On day one, the Hokies won two doubles matches and four singles matches.

🟠 ONE BIG THING

New Coach. Virginia Tech President Tim Sands and Director of Athletics Whit Babcock announced the formation of the university’s search committee to identify the Hokies’ next head football coach. The group is composed of leaders with deep expertise, institutional pride and national credibility. The committee will begin its work immediately to find a new coach.
