Inside HokieSports: Shutout Victories for Men's & Women's Soccer
The men's and women's soccer teams each had shutout wins over their Thursday night opponents.

🔼 Ranked Win. The men’s soccer team opened its season with a 1-0 victory over No. 3 Ohio State. Freshman Colin Beutel scored at 40 minutes in the first half. It was a tight match, with each team recording six shots. Virginia Tech had two shots on goal and Ohio State had three. Goalkeeper Sam Joseph tallied his first shutout of the season. This marks the first ranked win for the program since 2023.

🔼 Three-Peat. The women’s soccer team won its third straight game of the season. The Hokies shut out Clemson 4-0 at home. Natalie Mitchell scored early in the first half and the second half. Anna Weir and Eliana Salama scored within a minute of each other late in the second. Tech had 12 shots, and six were on goal. Goalkeeper Lauren Hargrove recorded one save.

Welcome! The women’s basketball team added Špela Brecelj to the 2025-26 roster. Brecelj is a 6’2” guard/forward from Ajdovščina, Slovenia. She participated in six European Championships and one World Cup with the Slovenian Youth National Team.
